What’s better to a beauty lover than finding good quality, affordable, cruelty-free makeup? Not much. It’s an empowering, inclusive moment. Let’s all take a moment to thank Colourpop Cosmetics for being the best, and one of my favorite things about them is how often they collab with Youtubers. Collabs make the products feel that much more personal when you’ve been following their journey for years.
Colourpop recently collabed with Kathleen Lights again, and this time I’m here for it. I wasn’t paying enough attention on her past collabs, but I’m so glad I didn’t miss this one.
Colourpop recently had a sale on their website, most palettes where dropped from $16 to less than $10, a variety of their lipsticks where on sale, and they were offering a free shimmer palette with a purchase of $50 or more. You best believe I spent exactly enough to get myself a free palette.
I love hearing my mailman yell, “UPS!” and knock on my door in the morning. Sure, it scares me a little when I’m making my coffee half asleep, but it means I’ve got makeup at the door. What a wonderful way to start the morning!

I originally looked at the website because I needed to get my hands on the Colourpop x Kathleen Lights Dream Collection which includes the Dream St. palette and Dream Team lip set. Good god. It’s worth every penny, and it’s absolutely beautiful. It’s everything you’d want in a palette. It’s the perfect travel palette, looks can easily translate from day to night and what else could you need? You can create a very natural look, add a little shimmer if want to add a little something extra. The Dream Team lip set is everything you want as well; a nude, a red orange, and a every day gloss. I don’t know about you guys, but that’s really all I need for lipsticks. If I had to choose only a few products to have in my collection it would be a go-to neutral palette, my perfect nude, a super bright statement red orange, and a casual nude gloss. See, it really is a dream.

The palette is creamy and pigmented. It’s ready to go. What you pick up on your brush is going to go on your eyes because it does not quit. I actually had to remind myself to use a light hand a couple times because not even my Anastasia Modern Renaissance palette has as much payoff as these babies. I will admit the packaging is awful. It’s magnetic, so it closes easily, which I guess is nice. But it’s a little cardboard package, and the shadow gets all over it and you can’t really clean it off even with a makeup wipe. The longer you have it the messier it gets. The shadows hit the top of the palette and stain the top with circles. They don’t have mirrors, which can sometimes be a painful reminder of you’re lack of memory when you pick it up four times looking for a mirror and remember it’s not there. Though, it’s cheap. You get 12 beautiful, quality, creamy shadows for $16. If there’s no mirror you can afford to buy one now with what you saved. It’s pretty frustrating, but Colourpop actually just updated it’s packing with it’s newest release, Give It To Me palette.
Now – the lipsticks. I’ve been a fan of their lipsticks for a while, ever since I bought seven of them one night while I was drunk. I don’t even remember doing it, but I’m glad I did it. Although, I ordered two of the same shade, Aquarius, it still all worked out. This time I picked up my first lippie stick and the Kathleen Lights dream team set.

The Dream Team collection is my dream team as well. I don’t know why there isn’t more hype around these because I get giddy just looking at them. The packaging is gorgeous, although I know the text will start to rub off as it does with all their lipsticks, which is so sad. I get it though, it’s a $6 lipstick I can’t be too picky. The formula is so comfortable and pigmented and you never have to worry about applying multiple coats. The color choices are perfect, I mean what else do you really need? I love that they aren’t all matte formulas, even though those are also very comfortable. These ultra satin lip formulas don’t dry down completely so it can get a pretty messy. If you have a fair/light complexion like Kathleen these will probably be your go-tos. But, I honestly think these would look killer on every skin tone.
The red orange, rêver, is SO beautiful on every skin tone, especially medium and dark skin tones because it’s just such a great bright pop and compliments the warm tones so nicely. It doesn’t skip or go on splotchy. The only problem I have with it is it gets everywhere if you’re not careful. I wish I could find a way for it to dry down more because they’re so comfortable you kind of forget you’re wearing it. If Colourpop could come out with a mattefying topcoat to turn your ultra satin formulas into a semi-matte or ultra matte I’d buy 4 of them right now. I was eating hummus and pretzels while wearing this for the first time and for a quick minute I thought I was bleeding. If you pick this color up just know it will smudge, so maybe don’t wear this out on a date or a wild night out.
Dreamy is a light pink/peach nude. If you’re a darker complexion and don’t like lighter pink lipsticks this may not be your fav, but I honestly think it looks amazing on every complexion. I felt like out of all the set this lasted the longest on my lips, maybe because it’s so close to my natural lip color that it didn’t look too bad when it started to fade, but it also barely smudged.
Lastly, Moon child is a pink nude gloss with gold shimmer that I’ve been wearing almost every day, especially in the winter when your lips are already busted and you can’t wear dry formula lipsticks without feeling like you’re wronging the world. It can also be such a nice gloss to go over your favorite nude. Plus, the name, ugh it’s perfect. You can wear this anywhere, any time, with any thing and it’s absolutely beautiful.
Guys, if you haven’t already you need to check out Colourpop. It’s the same facility that Kylie Cosmetics makes her lipsticks and they almost have the same formula. I have one Kylie lip kit and it’s smells different and has a slightly creamier formula, but overall it dries down about the same.
The price point for Colourpop wins me over, and they’re constantly collaborating with Youtubers who put so much love and energy into their products. The Dream St. Collection is beautiful and some of my favorite makeup I own. If you don’t like to spend a lot of makeup or prefer to pick things up at the drugstore this will be your new favorite place to shop. This is around the same price as everything at the drugstore, sometimes even cheaper I feel like the drugstore just keeps getting more expensive. I’m looking at you Maybelline selling a $30 palette. Colourpop is affordable, quality, and always having some kind of sale. Keep your eye out on social media, and sign up to their email list to know what’s good. I know sometimes you just want to run to the store and have it that day, but believe me it’s worth the wait and you get to shop with no pants on.
