Happy Sunday! I know I just posted a video, but I finally got studio lights so I had to film! I also wanted to talk about some of my recent favorites that I can’t seem to stop using. If you’re interested, press play or follow below.
I’ve been going back to these products no matter what I’m wearing that day. If I’m going for a no-makeup day, or going full glam these are some of the products I can’t seem to get enough of.
Valjean Labs Firm Facial Serum | $6
I got this at Marshall’s looking for something completely different, but I couldn’t pass up trying a $6 serum with great packaging. It’s a pretty frosted glass bottle with a nice dropper. I’ve been going full force against my aging skin and so I’ve been looking for serums I can use that will hydrate and firm. I had already been using a Vitamin C concentrate in my morning skin routine to stimulate collagen and fight free radicals, and finding something with both Vitamin E and ferulic acid seemed perfect because the three work together so nicely. The combination has been seen to help photo damage, and can be used to prevent skin cancer. I’m on board for that. Vitamin E is also great for extra hydration, and with combination skin I need the extra boost.
Maybelline FIT Me Shine Free + Balance Foundation Stick in 120 Classic Ivory | $8
I honestly didn’t like this for a long time because I didn’t think it helped with my oils at all, if anything I thought it made my skin look more oily. So if you’re super oily I’d stay away. It has a waxy feel and paired with oily skin I feel like it just slips around. I went back to it as a last resort on a day where I didn’t feel as good as I wanted, but really didn’t want to put on a full face of makeup. I gave it another try.
It was great for what I wanted. I specifically use this one days when I’m not wearing a lot of makeup because it doesn’t make a huge difference. I use this on days when I am only wearing concealer, mascara and highlight. I definitely would not recommend this if you’re looking for coverage, you won’t get it here.
This is basically a nice sheen on the skin, it’s enough to even out your skin, but not enough to cover all the freckles in your skin. I’ve made the mistake of using this with a full face of makeup and it ain’t cute. Also, I can’t wear this with most primers. I usually just put a little smashbox photo finish primer to cover up my pores around my nose and forehead and that’s it.
L’Oréal True Match Lumi Healthy Luminous Makeup in N3 Natural Buff | $12
The satin finish on this will make you think about it every time you do your makeup. Whenever I’m picking a foundation to wear I almost go for this. I don’t wear this every day because it’s a tiny bit too orange for me, still workable, but some days I don’t want to have to add a little extra concealer to even it out. A lot of people compare this to Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk, although I’ve never tried it I can see it. A lot of people love the GA one because it’s satin finish and healthy glow. Same goes for this one.
Dominique Cosmetics Latte Palette | $42
When you recently get a new palette and you can do a bunch of looks you know you can’t stop using it. This palette is great because I can use it on the days when I just want to use a transition. There are neutrals that are easy to build so I can have a light look or intensify it. There are also a couple pops of color that are pigmented and beautiful, and insane foils for any look. There’s a bronze one, a silvery one, and a rose. I just love it so much, and I love the mirror in this bad boy. I know it’s going to be an easy makeup tutorial when I’m using that palette.
Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara in Blackest Black | $8
I love this mascara more than I ever thought I would. When this campaign launched I wasn’t interested at all, I didn’t even want to hear about it anymore when people were talking about it. I think it was just because they all felt like paid advertising because it had JUST come out and everyone was already saying how amazing it was. I was late to this, but I’m glad I gave it a shot. I was looking for a mascara that had some benefits for my lashes because they’ve been falling out or breaking a lot recently.
It’s formula has coconut extract in it, which leaves it super creamy and allows you to put on multiple coats without it clumping at all. Though, it means it doesn’t dry down fast so it can get a little messy. The packaging get really scuffed up and messy looking if you’re the kind of person to just throw it in your purse with other stuff.
NXY Gel Liner in Jet Black | $9
This is legit. This dries down matte black and is creamy enough to not dry extremely fast so it’s easy to work with. It also is long wearing and reliable. You have to take this off with makeup remover because it doesn’t just come off with a makeup wipe. As someone who is new to gel liner and isn’t very good at it, I find this less intimidating that felt liner pens. I just really love being able to use a brush instead of a liner pen.
Milk Makeup Highlighter in Lit | $24
This is my favorite highlighter so far. I absolutely love how versatile and travel-friendly it is. My mini has gone through it, it’s beat up and the label is basically non existent, but it’s very loved. It’s just the perfect every day highlighter. It’s formula is creamy and not too stick or heavy, it’s beautiful on the skin, and I can use it as a base for other highlighters if I want to intense highlight. So no matter if I’m going for a no-makeup look or full glam I can rely on this every time to make me feel beautiful.
Maybelline FIT ME Loose Finishing Powder | $8
If you’re looking for a good loose powder that isn’t going to turn your face into a raisin this is it. It doesn’t have a translucent option, which I wish it did, but if you just get a shade lighter than your skin tone it’s a nice brightener for your eyes. This is also great for people with dry skin because it’s not too drying. My under eyes are a problem, they have an attitude, and they need a lot of work. I’m constantly doubling down on concealer and I have been using this to set it in place and it’s been working amazingly. It doesn’t look overly dry when I take pictures, it actually blurs out the area nicely.
I hope I inspired some of you to try some of these products, or give them another shot if you already have them in your collection. What are some products you can’t get enough of?
