I was so bummed when Desi and Katy released their first collab with Dose of Colors because I didn’t have a dime to spend on it. This time I was prepared, computer out on the Dose of Colors website at 8am sharp. I ordered mostly from their older collection including: fuego highlight, over the top lip gloss, as well as their newest lip gloss sister the most.
Although I don’t have the full collection I thought I’d talk about these because I can’t stop using them. I’m living for these products. Can we just mention quickly how they photograph? Every picture I take with these come out beautiful because they’ve worked so hard to make something so beautiful. I can’t help but throw them into flat lays all the time, but to be fair these are always on my bathroom vanity so they kind of never leave my sight.
THE HIGHLIGHT – FUEGO
I was most upset about not being able to purchase fuego when they put out their first collaboration. Everyone was talking about it, and seeing these two hit pan on theirs made me want it even more.
One thing I really love about this collab is that we have two different complexions. I know they aren’t too far off from each other, but it means that they keep in mind those lighter than Katy and those darker than Desi to really give everyone a great collection and I think they succeeded in that. The champagne/gold of this highlight makes my heart sing. I thought when I saw the swatches it would be just a little too dark for me, and it is if I get a little too heavy handed, but when I just give myself that nice glow it is perfect. I wear this every day to work and I feel like I’m alive when I get to work at 7am.
The only thing I kind of don’t like about this is the packaging. Don’t kill me. Yes, this is outrageously beautiful, a highlight should not be allowed to be this glam, but this doesn’t seem like a highlight that you should travel with. The corners of mine were frayed since I got it out of the box and I’m worried that after a while of being in my bag or using it a lot that it’ll get straggly looking. I love that it has a mirror and closes really well, but I thought the outside would be softer. I thought it was more of a pattern rather than actual fabric. Am I the only one?
THE GLOSS SISTERS – OVER THE TOP, THE MOST
These girls right here are moods. You feel like that bitch in these glosses. The packaging is to die for, I mean like I said it photographs like a dream and is always beautiful in your bag or on your counter. The applicator is flat and more rubbery than fluffy and I looooove it because it applies all the product on your lips so you don’t have to push and turn to get more product.
Over The Top is a warm, sun-kissed vibe that has gold reflects to make you feel like the sun is focused on you. If you are the type of person to just swipe the gloss on quick like chapstick this may be a little chunky on your lips. I noticed when I first wore it, trying to be not so poppin’ so early in the morning, that it had a really gritty feeling. Thought, when you build it up a little you don’t feel it at all, so live your glossy life with this.
The Most really is the most. As a super introverted person that barely wears makeup to work because I don’t want that much attention, this shit is an attention grabber. I like to wear this with a focus on skin, lots of blush, and mascara because this girl talks. This is glossy as hell and has silver and red iridescent reflects so your really dimensional and looking like the baby spice on vacation. This will make you want to smack some gum and twist your hair because basically it’s trouble. When I’m feeling feisty, but don’t really want to do my makeup this is my girl.
I regularly rotate these babies in my bag, almost always next to Fenty gloss bomb because I just can’t quit her, but I really love that these are clear glosses so you really can wear them with anything. Did I mention they smell like Boston creme donuts to me? Vanilla cream deliciousness.
When I get around to buying some more items from the collection I’ll keep you updated, but for now these are must-haves!
