I did it. I finally splurged and bought the $25 body wash that I see in so many shower caddy shelfies on Instagram, but is it worth the hype? Here’s a breakdown of Necessaire‘s The Body Wash.
This LA winter has been ruining my skin. As a kid I had eczema on both on my legs and ever since I could remember I’ve just had the driest legs in the world. They are two deserts. I went back to one of my favorite lotions ever, but I still felt like my legs were dry so I looked at the body wash I was using. I don’t think men’s Old Spice is known for retaining your skin’s moisture, correct me if I’m wrong. So, I was cruising through Instagram and finally asked someone who had a photo of Necessaire if it was really worth the hype or just a pretty bottle to have in your shower. She responded that it’s absolutely worth it. I immediately bought it. She is ferrisbeauty on Instagram, go follow, she’s a good time. Boom bam done. I needed to find out for myself, and I needed my self tan to stop patching off my legs.
NĂ©cessaire’s brand is all about self love. If you guys have been here for a little then you know I’m all about self love. This blog is all about self love! Their mission is: self-care is necessary. C’est nĂ©cessaire.

First thoughts – packaging is amazing. The brand uses recycled boxes and paper for it’s packaging and mailers, as well as only pairing with FSC certified companies aka companies that are eco-friendly and protect the forest. It came packed beautifully in a canvas bag, with minimalistic marketing material. So simple and effortlessly cool. The bottle is soft touch and has a twist top for easy access. No dropping or spilling. I was already so excited to try it out.

First wash – if you like sandalwood, you’ll love this. I got the sandalwood scent mostly because I loved the black cap. I wanted to grab the eucalyptus because I’m a sucker for anything eucalyptus, but aesthetic got the best of me and I didn’t want the dark green cap. The sandalwood option smells a bit patchouli-y, not too strong, but you can smell yourself after getting out of the shower. Honestly, that to me means that it’s a good body wash. I don’t know about you, but I love to smell good hours after I shower.

Couple weeks in – I think my favorite thing about this wash is that it comes out feeling a little oily, it’ll run through your fingers if you don’t slap it on your body immediately or use a loofah, but you don’t have to stand there forever rinsing it off because there’s just a layer of soap on you. It’s kind of magic in that way. It’s lightweight, hydrating, and quick. It’s pH balanced at 5.5-6.5 and has a list of vitamins and omegas to really feed your skin. I wouldn’t say it’s luxurious or anything, except for the price tag. It’s just easy, perfect if you are the type of person to take quick morning showers instead of long baths. I guess that’s a luxury in itself, right?
Final thoughts – As I’ve been using it over the weeks I do think it’s worth it. I don’t use it every single day. If I was working out of haven’t showered in a couple day, it’s normal don’t start judging, then I don’t use this. This is for when I want to treat myself in the morning before work, or when I’m taking a long, hot shower just thinking about my life and future and all the things that creep into my brain. This is literally all about self care. Plus, it’s so gorgeous. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve stared at in the shower and made future plans to take shelfie pictures. My absolute only problem with it is that I feel like I’m going to blast through this if I use it too often, because of the thin formula it quickly gets used up.
If you’re not the type of person to care about body products don’t buy this unless you have the money and are curious. It’s not going to blow your mind at all. I think it’s moreso for people that really friggen love skincare and beauty products. You’ll fly through it and you won’t see a drastic difference from other products. You will definitely see that you don’t have a layer of soap on you and your skin won’t be as dry, but it’s not going to fix every skin problem. If you love skincare and love having luxury bath products I’d say go for it. It’s beautiful and full of self-care.
