I’m a sucker for a good Instagram product photo, I’m an even bigger sucker for things that smell phenomenal. Jen Atkin’s haircare line Ouai is all of that and more. Every product I’ve tried so far has been a win for me, here’s a couple of my favorites.

Wave Spray | $26 full size, $12 travel size
You know when you’re so obsessed with something that you don’t even know where to begin talking about it? That’s how I feel about wave spray. This shit is gooooood.
If you love sea salt spray, but hate that your hair becomes a god damn disaster creating a full blown bird’s nest when you have your hair down then this is the stuff for you. I love how this stuff makes your hair feel salty, but not coarse. Although, yes, if you spray as much as I usually do you might get a little tangling. I let it sit for a minute or two after spraying and brush out the bottoms and under and I’m good to go. Though I gotta say, this isn’t going to give your beachy waves. I wouldn’t even say this will give you waves at all unless you get waves when your hair gets a little wet. This is more of a texture/salt spray than a wave spray in my opinion.
Best part is this stuff smells incredible. Incredible, incredible. I need to bathe in it. I mentioned how much I loved the scent and Ouai reached out on Instagram telling me it’s the North Bondi scent they carry as a perfume. So you know I’m running to Sephora as soon as I get my paycheck. I’ve also been mixing this with Stella by Stella McCartney perfume (the black and purple one,) and the mix is so beautiful, clean, and sophisticated without being too much for the office.
Worst part about it – I fly through this stuff. I’ve had this bottle for about two weeks and I’ve already gone through a 1/4 of the bottle. I don’t play when it comes to my wave spray.
Scalp & Body Scrub | $38
Who wouldn’t want a semi-luxury body scrub? I call this semi-luxury because it’s almost $40, and when you’re using a product all over your body – quite literally head to toe, it tends to go a little faster than some of your other pricey buys. To be honest though, I’m very happy with this purchase.
I’m not going to say this is unlike anything else because it isn’t. It’s a sugar scrub made with coconut oil, which is very, very common. The thing that I really like about this is how silky it is. If you’ve ever used the Bath and Body Works Stress Relief Scrub you know how abrasive that one is, and super oily. OUAI’s scrub is not a oily mess, you don’t have to feel like you need to warn your family of slipping in the shower after, and you actually feel clean after using it. I love using this before self-tanning. I never have weird patches, and I feel like it doesn’t strip my skin the way other body scrubs have in the past.
Funny enough my boyfriend uses this weekly after shaving his head. He has told me he can’t not use it anymore because it makes such a big difference in how soft his head feels, and how much better his dry scalp has been since using it. If you’re thinking about buying and don’t know if you should spend the money I’d say go for it. Try it at least once, and if you don’t like it give it to someone else – man or woman, you’ll find a use for it. It also smells incredible – their Melrose Place scent, which is a little girlier/floral than North Bondi, but doesn’t linger too long.
Just picked up the OUAI After Sun Body Soother that I’m super excited to share with you guys once I’ve had a little time in the sun. Since California is playing us all by not getting past low-70s it may take a little time, but so far it’s so fun to put on and smells like coconuts. Stay tuned for more!
