I’m so excited to finally be writing this review because damn do I got something to tell you guys… spoiler alert: this is the most expensive skincare I’ve ever bought.
I finally splurged and bought Algenist Genius Liquid Collagen. I used to look at this every time I went into Sephora, but never even spent time reading the packaging or trying it out because I didn’t want to get attached and not be able to buy it. This time was different.
Algenist Genius Liquid Collagen | $115

I picked it up and said, Wow, I really want to try this and Matt said, “So get it”.
I realized I actually could if I wanted to – this wasna pricey buy, but not completely unavailable. I’m not sure I’ve ever had that before, it would’ve been a way too wild buy before. It felt like it was time.
Sooooo glad I did buy it. Simply said, this stuff is worth the price so far. It also has sustainably resourced, vegan microalgea beads of collagen. That ain’t cheap. It’s just always an added bonus that things are sustainable when you’re buying a luxury product. Here’s what it claims to target:
– Fine lines and wrinkles
– Loss of firmness and elasticity
– Dullness and uneven texture
If you have deep, deep wrinkles this isn’t going to work overnight. You’ll probably need to use this day and night for a few months to see results if that’s the case. I have pretty deep wrinkles on my forehead (deep for a 27-year-old) and I can already see the wrinkles plumping up. 100% not gone completely, but definitely less drastic, and I can see in pictures that it’s going down.
I truly think this is the reason my skin is still glow-y and plump in the morning after working 6 days a week, always being stressed out, and barely sleeping. Yes, I exfoliate, yes I use multiple masks per week. Yes, I went through an entire bottle of hyaluronic acid in like a month, so I may have a different routine than most… but I know this is a huge reason.

The smell is one of my favorite things about it. It’s light and fresh. It basically smells like when you shower and the bathroom and halfway still smell amazing. It’s subtle and airy, but soooo good. It makes me so happy in the morning to smell it. If you’re not a fan of fragrances I don’t feel this is too aggressive, so it may not be a problem for you either.
The biggest issue with this – you can definitely slam through this fast. I mean, within the first few days I noticed the product visibly going down. The dropper lets out a good amount to cover your full face, which is great, but you start easily (mindlessly,) going through it. It’s recommended that for best results you use it twice a day, but I quickly realized that’s not feasible to me. I like to use it in the morning after toner, before a vitamin C serum and my moisturizer/spf combo. I feel like when I use it at night it ends up sitting on my face for half the time it does in the morning, so it just makes me feel better to only use it in the morning.
If you’ve been thinking about this product, or even the Algenist line in general for a while and have a little extra to spend then normal I’d definitely recommend. If you have any questions comment below!
