Jen Atkin and Ouai have been teasing the past week about a couple upcoming products and I just got to try them, and sigh…
I think you guys know by now that I really fucking love this brand. They fit into the whole Instagram aesthetic, but in the really cool older outcast sister way. Ouai is like the Brooke Davis of the haircare Instagram world.
Everything is reasonably priced – a little more expensive than drugstore, but less expensive than luxury products. They’re minimal packaging is always the best, and they smell so friggen good, with two new scents released exclusively to these products so far:
Body Cleanser = Dean Street: Citrus Fruits, Apricot, Rose, Magnolia, Muguet, Violet, Amber, Liden Blossom and Musk
Body Crème = Shibuya: Mediterranean Citrus, Warm Spices, Rose, Violet and White Musk

Body Cleanser | $28
I’m into this cleanser. I love the packaging, it’s a little harder to squeeze the tube which I like. The packaging is also this pretty iridescent color that goes with any aesthetic – I know that’s important to some people. I have a big bottle of the method pure peace body wash, I use this every day because it’s cheap and I can go through it and I won’t feel bad, but the packaging is such soft plastic that I squeeze SO much out at once. The Ouai Body Cleanser is a lot tougher, you’re not going to waste a bunch of product.
This stuff lathers up great. I really like things that lather, I know a lot of people don’t because it strips your skin or has too many emulsifiers, things like that, but I like a good lather because it keeps me from using too much product. I don’t have to use a loofah with this cleanser like I have to with the Nécessaire body cleanser (my review here if you want to know more).
The smell is nice – Matt said it smells like green peppers or jalapenos…? I know, but it kinda does in the way… it smells like you snap a green pepper open or smell fresh veggies. Earthy, fresh, and airy. It also has a nice citrus smell without smelling like kitchen cleaner. I wish the scent was a little stronger, but I think if you’re sensitive to smells this might be a good one for you. This is definitely a unisex body wash which is a really nice addition to the Ouai collection.

Body Crème | $38
Same price (and jar) as the Body Scrub, so far I don’t think it’s a crazy price. I’ll let you know how quick I go through it to really judge that.
I really love this stuff though. Spending $38 on a body lotion feels luxe to me. I feel like you go through a lot at once when you’re moisturizing your entire body, but this is creamy and almost gel-like, think a thicker, creamier Neutrogena Hydro Boost Lotion. I used this right out of the shower, and it felt sooo nice. I was also able to put on leggings after like 15 mins, so it doesn’t sit on your skin forever waiting to be absorbed.
When I first smelled it I thought it was going to be too earthy for my likes, but it evened out to be airy, and masculine to be honest. So if you’re looking for a good moisturizer that you can share on your vanity this is a great one.

Overall these two new products are great – no real complaints so far! I’m really loving the push towards more masculine scents even though I love the Melrose Place and North Bondi scents soooooo much. This could be a whole new direction for Ouai to be honest… let’s see if they start creating men’s products.
