I saw on the news this morning that Tiger King had 5 billion minutes watched – the most Netflix has ever had. I’ve watched Tiger King, I hated every minute of it. I watched it just to know what the hell all the memes were about, and I regret it. It stressed me out, and I felt like it was brain poison, so I figured I’d share some of my favorite, binge-worthy, boyfriend/husband-approved series to watch this week.
I’ve listed the streaming platform and each series shows how many seasons there currently are. I know finding a new show that has more than 4 seasons is gold.
Here are the binge-worthy series in no order:
Netflix
Schitt’s Creek (Six Seasons) – The idea behind this show is kinda what if the “Kardashian’s lost all their money”. It may seem too over the top when you first watch, but watch at least 3 episodes. That’s the rule. It’s basically a play on whether or not rich people would be the same people if they lost everything. It’s brilliantly written, heart-felt, and so, so easy to binge-watch. Season 1-5 are on Netflix. You’ll need PopTV and a TV Provider to watch Season 6 (the final series *sobs*).
F1 (Two Seasons) – I didn’t know if I’d like this at first and then I became obsessed. This is bougie NASCAR. You get sucked in so quick, and you’ll find yourself 4 episodes deep like woah, I guess we like this. Perfect thing to binge with your boyfriend/husband, especially if he’s been watching something he doesn’t love with you. After you watch comment your favorite team below.
Comedian’s In Cars Getting Coffee (Six Seasons) – if you don’t like Jerry Seinfeld then just pass on this one. It’s literally him getting coffee with his friends. He chooses are car that he think fits the person he’s meeting, picks them up in it, grabs coffee and they just shoot the shit. Perfect Saturday morning, cleaning the house, type of show to have on. It’s like having company in your living room.
Hulu
Killing Eve (Two Seasons, Third Currently Airing on BBC America) – I’m bingeing this right now and I can’t stop watching this. Jodie Comer who plays Villanelle is phenomenal. Not a huge fan of Sandra Oh in this role, but it’s an fast-paced show to watch. It’s British, and if you know British TV you’ll understand what that means. Matt doesn’t love this show, but watches it with me anyways because we pick each other’s brain about how we feel about it. We literally sit on the couch for hours talking to each other, which is why I keep watching.
The Handmaid’s Tale (Three Seasons) – if you haven’t watched this then what the hell are you doing? This is the perfect time to watch it in our crazy ass world. I remember the first couple episodes being hard to get into though. Follow the 3 episode (at least) rule… stick with it and it will blow your mind. Every actor in this is also outrageously good.
11.22.63 (8-Part Series) – throwing this in here if you haven’t watched already. It’s been out for years, but it’s so god damn good that I might need to rewatch. It’s about someone time-traveling to the date of JFK’s assassination to try and find the truth.
Amazon Prime
Jack Ryan (Two Seasons) – if you like cop/government type shows then you’ll like this one. It feels like it could be a Jason Bourne type trilogy, and John Krasinski is excellent in it. Season two wasn’t as good as one, but if you have nothing else to watch it’s a good one.
The Man in the High Castle (Three Seasons) – Season three threw me for a loop and it kind of derailed the show for me a bit (I need to rewatch), but Season 1 and 2 were so, so good. It’s about what would have happened to the world is Hilter won the war.
Disney+
Onward – Great, great family movie. Bring tissues. Honestly, who doesn’t love a Pixar movie?
AppleTV+
The Morning Show (One Season) – This is such a great show, and I’m so glad it’s as good as I thought it would be. This is basically about the Matt Lauer scandal at The Today Show, and it’s done really well. Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Steve Carrell are excellent in it. If you don’t have an AppleTV I would highly recommend buying one, you get a year free subscription to AppleTV+ and you can watch all these other shows I suggested on there as well.
I feel like I’ve watched everything at this point, especially because I have everything – Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, HBO, Showtime, Starz, Disney+, AppleTV+. I might end up making this a reoccurring series of what I’m watching, liking/not liking every few weeks.
