I’ve been on a journey as I head closer towards my 30s into finding quality pieces that’ll last for years. I want to get rid of clothes because I don’t feel they serve a purpose to me anymore and I can give or sell. I don’t want to be throwing away clothes because they were never made well in the first place. Fall has always been my favorite style season, and fall fashion trends are so timeless!
Maybe you’re on a similar journey and if you are I know it’s difficult and damn it’s hard to not jump on buying an entire cart of Shein trendy pieces that you can style right away…
Fall fashion trends are always being added to, but they’re built off the same foundation. Investing in quality timeless pieces will allow your wardrobe to never go out of style.
It takes a lot of restraint to save for pieces you want to invest in when you’re scrolling down Instagram and you feel like you’re going to miss out and never be able to dress the way you want.
Here are some pieces that I’m currently saving up for that I think will be timeless pieces to your wardrobe, I have lot of options to go off of:
BOOTS —
I feel like boots are my ultimate style piece. I remember back in college someone asked me what can you not live without in Fall and I said boots. Boots can completely change an outfit. I also think, like leather jackets, they can instantly make any outfit super badass.
SNEAKERS —
I hate that I’m putting Golden Goose sneakers on here because I never thought I would ever be that person until my sister-in-law pulled them out of her luggage and I loved them. They are really nice quality, and I think if you choose a muted down colo rway they will remain in style. Or you could go completely the other way and get a crazy pair as a statement shoe.
There’s nothing more versatile or effortlessly chicer than a clean white sneakers. Quality of quantity!
OVERSIZED SWEATERS —
Oversized sweaters are a must in any wardrobe. It takes a little finessing to get the sizing right though, so prepare for trial and error. I think having the holy trinity of nude (both lighter and darker nude variations,) grey, and black in your wardrobe is all your need. You can buy statement pieces and pops of colors after that.
Having a mix of plain, minimal more high-end work-appropriate sweaters, minimal design, and graphic oversized sweaters is even better.
JACKETS AND BLAZERS —
One of the things I miss the most about living on the East Coast is the fact that I could layer. It’s way harder living in LA, there just isn’t enough cool weather for me to justify buying all the pieces I want, but I may invest in 1 or 2 this year to add to the collection.
My philosophy is invest in leather jackets, premium denim jackets, oversized blazers, and plaid statement pieces.
MIDI DRESSES —
I’m honestly kind of surprised at myself for adding this, but I’ve been thinking about it a lot. I looooove loose, flowy midi dresses paired with a tennis shoes, converse, or boots and leather jackets. There’s something so effortlessly cool and French that I think it’s forever timeless. Plus, you can rewear the dresses in the spring and summer. Win-win-win.
TOTE BAGS —
The gift that keeps on giving. Who doesn’t love a tote bag though? They’re SO useful. Work bag, weekender, gotta-run-errands-but-I-have-too-much-in-my-hands bag, going-to-my-best-friends-and-might-stay-over bag, shopping bag! The possibilities are endless really so why not ball out a bit on one that’ll last.
Stick with the neutrals so you can mix and match your wardrobe.
I know that was a lot, but I love searching for quality pieces and hopefully this helped ya out.
Let me know – what was the BEST quality piece of clothing you’ve ever purchase that you still use to this day?
I’m currently wearing my Anine Bing leopard tee and I’m obsessed. I’ll wear this until it falls off my body. $100 for a tee is steep, but I’d buy it again and again.
